Evelyn Schaffer has lived in Salisbury, NC since 1979. Growing up in Emmaus PA, one of her pastimes as a youngster was pencil sketching family members.

Upon retirement in 1994 from the Rowan County Health Dept., she attended and studied watercolor classes under Elizabeth Watson at the Rufty Holmes Senior Center for many years.

Evelyn studied watercolors portraits under Pat Aubrey Grey and Jan Koontz. She also took workshops under Chuck McLaughlin, Tom Lynch and Tom Jones. She also did life drawing under Llewelyn Padgett.

She has received first and second place awards in the Sliver Arts Program and honorable mention in Carolina Artists Exposition juried by Robert Doares.

A member and assistant treasurer for the Carolina Artists Guild, she exhibits paintings locally and in area juried shows. She also contributes to various agency benefits. Most of her artwork is done from photographs she has taken on her travels.
