An Oklahoman, Polly Hubbard attended East Central State University, Ada, Oklahoma, and graduated from the University of Maryland, where she studied photography with the late Fremont Davis. Further study in art was completed at the University, the Maryland College of Art and Design, the Smithsonian Institution and with Washington painter Jack Perlmutter. She has won numerous awards in photography, was a finalist in the LIFE magazine competition in 1971, and was a long active member in the DC/MD art community and the Maryland Federation of Art, Annapolis, before moving to Salisbury in February, 2007. Artist's statement: "I seek to show the strength and independence of the visual patterns, both the ordinary and the exotic, that confront us in our lives."
